For the time being, this area will be devoted to comments made by musicians who have played for Wakefield Jazz

"I played at Wakefield Jazz Club in the 90's quite a few times - it was
a great place to play at with a discerning audience. It is now even
better! The piano, the non-smokiness, the ambience, etc. etc..

Still also a fantastic, listening, audience. I'll return happily if
you'll have me!"

Best wishes from John Helliwell - aka 'Jean de Crème Anglaise'. Gig

"We just had to start [our tour] at Wakefield which is so close to the heart of so many jazz musicians and has particularly happy memories for me" - Guy Barker Gig

(Interview with Reg Brace - Yorkshire Post 4th May 2007)
"I wanted to thank you for a very special evening at Wakefield Jazz last friday. I doubt Guy's dZf will ever sound quite so exhilarating again nor will we find quite such an easy rapport with an audience. I know Michael [Brandon] was thrilled with the instant, warm response to his reading, enabling him to relax into it and improve on the broadcast version.

The story has never sounded better and the band, of course, were blistering. We played it again the following night and Michael and I were still re-writing the libretto an hour before curtain up and it is now a little tighter, thanks to the 'bedding in' at your place. But there is no doubt Wakefield 'got it' immediately. So, what we think is, as well as taking the librettist on tour, why don't we just take your audience wherever we go?"

Thanks again.

"Man, Wakefield Jazz has some cool people in it's audiences, everyone was so supportive and took the time to say thanks, buy a CD, get our scrawls on it - it was wicked.

Thanks Everyone!!"
